Global Tipping Points

The Belt and Road Initiative: China's Trillion Dollar Bet to Win Global Primacy

In 2013, China began a massive infrastructure program, initially called the New Silk Road, that would stretch all across Asia and into Europe. The idea behind the, now termed, Belt and Road Initiative is to connect China to new markets and to create a trade route that rivals the famous Silk Road of a couple thousand years ago. However, many people fear that this unprecedented program is designed to build China's power in the region through a mix of diplomacy and strong armed tactics. Join the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire to hear from Foreign Policy Association Fellow, Sarwar Kashmeri, about China's efforts to dominate the world through their largess.

When: November 12th, 2019 at 6:00 pm
