Youth Exchange Alumni Panel Discussion
Hear from three alumni of the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) and the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship (BFTF) as they share personal stories about their experiences. The panelists discuss what inspired them to apply, what they learned while travelling and participating, and how the programs helped them build language skills, as well as critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding, and lasting global connections. The conversation concludes with panelists sharing how their exchange continues to shape their lives upon returning home and offering words of advice to future applicants. |

 Lucas, a former WACNH intern and 2026 Global Ties U.S. Emerging Leader, is passionate about international affairs and raising awareness about global opportunities for students in New Hampshire. For his Emerging Leaders service project, he set out to introduce high school students across the state to the power of educational exchanges. As a college student, he had the opportunity to take part in two educational exchanges, studying in Dublin, Ireland, and Warsaw, Poland. Those experiences helped him become more independent, curious, and confident while giving him the chance to form international friendships. He also discovered his desire to pursue public service in the future. Through this project, Lucas hopes to encourage New Hampshire students to imagine where an exchange experience could take them and how their own background can help connect New Hampshire with the world. |
