2010 Featured Programs:

Inside North Korea

September 1 - 11, 2010

We have learned that the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has decided to allow a limited number of Americans into the country later this year. The DPRK is a hospitable and fascinating destination for tourists, completely unique in the world. The DPRK government welcomes foreign visitors on a regular basis, and maintains a tourism infrastructure to accommodate them. The group meets in Beijing, primarily to obtain our visas, then flies to North Korea's capital, Pyongyang. Here we will see huge, green parks, marble monuments, and wide, immaculate boulevards. We also visit Myohyang, whose buildings are lavish showcases for the DPRK; Kaesong, the ancient capital of Korea; and Nampo, a major sea port. The highlight will be the Arirang Mass Performance with some 100,000 participants. $4,190 plus airfare round trip from the U.S. to Beijing.

So popular was Iran for our 2009 tour schedule, that we've added two additional departures. Do not miss this opportunity to travel with Ambassador Mark Johnson on a journey where vast monuments serve as testament to the extraordinary history of this country. In Tehran, admire the magnificent Crown Jewels and unbelievable Peacock Throne. We include Kerman, Yazd, and Persepolis, with its ancient heritage dating back 2,500 years and perhaps one of the most beautiful and spectacular archaeological sites surviving today. Explore Shiraz, a center for poetry, and end in Isfahan, considered one of the most beautiful of all Iranian cities with stunning architecture, mosques, palaces, bazaars, and public parks. Note: There is a state dept warning for Iran. We expect to meet a broad section of society and past travelers have reported delight at Iranian hospitality.

Ancient Cities of North Africa and Andalusia with Bill Moyers

November 20 - December 1, 2010

Cruise aboard the all-suite, 114-guest Corinthian II in the company of award-winning journalist Bill Moyers. In the Dark Ages, a glorious civilization sprang up in the province of Andalusia in Southern Spain. Conventionally referred to as "Moorish," it was in fact a hybrid of powerful cultural forces: Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Three great monotheistic faiths worked side by side to build a sophisticated society. We explore Rabat, Morocco's capital, and Marrakech, visiting the medina and its Jewish Quarter. In Algeria, we'll visit the magnificent 11th century Great Mosque in the lovely city of Tlemcen. In Spain, travel to the splendid al-Andalus cities of Granada, home to the incomparable Alhambra; Ronda, dramatically built on a ridge; and Seville, site of the Alcazar. Journey is round trip from Casablanca.
