ABOUT MURAT LUTEM:

Murat Lutem was appointed consul general to Boston in 2010. Most recently (from 2007), he was seconded to the Office of the President of the Republicof Turkey and appointed foreign policy advisor to President Abdullah Gül. In the foreign policy department, he also assisted the senior foreign policy advisor in information-processing on issues pertaining to the United States, Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Far East. He was posted to the Turkish Embassy in Washington D.C.in 2003, where he focused on Turkish-American economic relations, acted as liaison to Turkish-American associations, and interacted with members of the U.S. congress, among other responsibilities. He was seconded to the Office of the President of the Republicof Turkey in 2001 and appointed deputy chief of staff to President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. He joined the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. Mr. Lütem earned a BA degree in 1993 from the International Relations Department of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey .
