Professor Wheeler graduated from Dartmouth College and Boston University and has taught courses since 1965 in world history, western civilization, Latin American history, Middle East studies, European history, history of secret intelligence and espionage and military coups.
He served in the U.S. Army and taught in the U.S. Army Intelligence School. He has also conducted a research fellowship for the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, founded an Intelligence Studies-related archive at the University of New Hampshire, and lectured with the Foreign Service Institute, the Council on Foreign Relations and the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
His is currently writing a book for general audiences tentatively titled “Espionage: A Modern History” and teachers undergraduate courses at Granite State College and the UNH adult extension program.
